About dumpy pegs
Dumpy pegs are the short hardwood pegs a site goes through by the bag: levels on a slab, formwork corners, kerb and channel setout, batter toes. CACP dumpy pegs are 38×55mm in section, raw finish and square edged, in 150mm and 250mm lengths, sold in bags of 50. The 150mm is the standard. Reach for the 250mm when the ground is soft, sandy or has been disturbed and a shallow peg will not hold a level.
Why hardwood matters in a peg
A peg takes a hammer to the head every time it goes in. Hardwood takes that without mushrooming or splitting, and holds its position in compacted base without working loose. Raw finish means you can write on them with marker or crayon, or paint the tops your own colour.
